Petrol price hikes and dollarization are not the only updates in the country’s auto industry; the ‘price hike saga’ unleased yet again right after a short span of a few months. Cars, in conjunction with two-wheelers, have started observing price shocks. Surprisingly, auto assemblers are doing all this at the drop of a dime.

Coming specifically to motorcycle makers, they have an entirely different story to present. ‘Exorbitant price jumps with no impetus’ is the old trend prevailing from when the rupee devaluation and the economy was on the trajectory of stability.

In a recent development, the Japanese bike maker in the country dubbed ‘Yamaha Motor Pakistan’ has unleashed a new price hike. As per the company, the new prices will be effective from September 6, 2023.

It is related to mention that Yamaha Pakistan has implemented five significant price increases for its motorcycles. Meanwhile, last year saw a total of seven price hikes from the company. In light of the prevailing economic challenges, dealers and industry experts are predicting additional price adjustments for the current year.

With these recent price hikes, the cost of new bikes has become unaffordable for a large portion of potential buyers. Consequently, citizens have called upon the government to address this issue, but their pleas have thus far gone unanswered.
