Fake News – Volkswagen Cars Launch NOT Shelved in Pakistan

Earlier, quoting sources, we reported that the launch of Volkswagen cars had been canceled in Pakistan, but the news was fake. According to the Premier Motors Limited (PML) spokesperson, this is false news, and the project is underway. “There are some lagging problems due to non-issuance of LCs by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP),” he stated, adding that the company is not going anywhere and is fully committed to completing the project and introducing new vehicles in the local market.

He asserted that the company will overcome these hurdles soon and resolve all the issues. “Every company in Pakistan is currently facing delays due to LC and import issues, but it doesn’t mean that our project is shut down; the news is simply wrong,” he said.

In 2018, Volkswagen AG and Premier Motors Ltd signed the final legal agreement for manufacturing commercial vehicles in Hanover, Germany. Under the agreement, the company announced to invest $135 million in a bid to make new cars and set up an assembly unit in Pakistan.

As per reports in 2022, the German company would manufacture its Amarok Truck and Transporter Van in Pakistan. Amarok Truck will compete with Toyota Hilux and Isuzu D-Max. Meanwhile, Transporter will go up against Hyundai Grand Starex and KIA Grand Carnival.

The assembly plant of Volkswagen will have the capacity to produce 28,000 vehicles every year. However, COVID-19 delayed the establishment of the plant. Earlier, the company was set to start production in 2021. Then it was pushed to 2022, and the current economic situation has further delayed the production plan. However, despite all the problems and issues, PML was completely standing with the project and vowed to complete it under any circumstances. Launching these new vehicles would certainly increase competition in the local market, giving more choices to consumers.

Furthermore, Premier Motors has already been selling Audi Cars in Pakistan for over ten years.

It was bound to happens, given the situation explained in this article, and with that , first Volskwagen wanted to come and after that they brought Skoda, the investement would be higher for 2 brands as well the risks.
Goodbye at least Volskwagen would be better than Peugeot, and could stand on par with Toyota.
