Cholistan Jeep Rally 2023 is underway as more than 100 top racers from Pakistan are participating in one of the biggest desert rallies in the country. The race is being arranged from February 6-12, 2023. The rally route has been extended to 500 kilometers in the desert.
As per details, the drivers, navigators, and vehicle owners will move to Darewar Fort for registration and technical examination of the vehicles today. The drivers will also undergo a medical examination to ensure their fitness for the event. Later, a drivers’ conference will abe held, followed by the draws for the participants in the qualifying rounds to be held tomorrow.
According to the schedule, the flag-off ceremony will happen on Friday, when the first rounds of male and female “prepared categories” will be held at Dilwash Stadium at Jamgrah. On Saturday, the male and female “stock categories” jeep and bike races would take place. And on Sunday, the second rounds of male and female drivers’ “prepared categories” and dirt bike races would be held at Dilwash Stadium, Bhijnot. And it will be followed by a results announcement and a prize-distribution ceremony.
The organizers have told the media that foreign drivers are also participating in the rally this year.
Trophy Unveil
Yesterday, the trophy of the 18th Cholistan rally was unveiled at Grand Rohi DHA Bahawalpur. Commission Bahawalpur Division Raja Jahangir Anwar, Regional Police Officer Bahawalpur Rai Babar Saeed, and Managing Director TDCP Agha Ali Abbas attended the event. Addressing the ceremony, the TDCP director said such events showcase a soft image of Pakistan worldwide. “Quad bike, dirt bike, and truck races would also be part of this year’s rally,” he added.
Meanwhile, the commission said that the Cholistan rally has become an international sports event, and the efforts of government departments in organizing this event are commendable. “The rally will also have food festivals, handicrafts, cultural and other entertainment programs,” he said.
