Today, we will take you to a different angle of the Yamaha YBR, where its owner has successfully modified it into a project bike by installing a turbo charger. Let’s check out in the blog what kind of a boost the turbo is providing in overall performance.

Make, Model, and Variant

This motorcycle is a 2018 model purchased in the beginning of 2023 against a price of 134,000 PKR. Although it was complete value for money but due to the owner’s enthusiasm for bikes, he took the initiative to modify it into a project bike.

Modifications

It was a high-compression engine transformed into a turbocharged engine extracted from a Japanese 660CC car. After this, the owner modified its exhaust fittings and purchased an oil cooler for the turbo, hydraulic oil pump, intercooler pipe housing, DC motor, belt-driven pulley, and fuel jet.

Overall, it lifted the performance of the bike.

Future Approach

The owner has a strong intention of installing an EFI and a PG30 used in a 200CC loader rickshaw engine. He believes that this will further tune up the bike for future ventures.

Top Speed

After all the modifications of the turbo and extension, the bike has gained 15 kg of extra weight, and still, it gives a top speed of 120km while providing a turbo boost at extreme RPMs.

Project cost and Maintenance

The complete project, including profile modifications and installations, cost around 100,000. At the same time, the maintenance cost has increased from 1500 to 2500 due to frequent turbo oil changes.

Best Feature

Although this bike requires more turning and alteration, what we loved the most was its cat-back exhaust noise, giving an overall sporty bike feel.

PakWheels strongly encourages smart minds to come forward and show their hands-on experience by bringing such projects. If you would like to read more about cars and bikes, visit our official website.
