A few months have passed since the last glimpse of the Proton X70 facelift, the refreshed C-segment SUV from the Malaysian automaker. Once again, images of the development unit have surfaced, wrapped in camouflage foil, the SUV still keeps its secrets close, but subtle changes hint at what’s to come.

Changes Under Camouflage

Gone is the T-shaped shroud seen in the previous sighting, replaced by a concealed grill emblem extending from the foil covering much of the vehicle’s body. The headlights now reveal more of their L-shaped DRL arc, offering a glimpse of the updated design.

As expected, the upcoming Proton X70 facelift draws inspiration from the 2022 Geely Boyue update, deviating from the Boyue Pro or Azkarra models.

While the wheels remain hidden, their silhouette suggests a five-spoke design, possibly similar to those on the Boyue facelift. The presence of a sunroof hints at the higher-end Premium variant, consistent with the previous X70 lineup. Interior details remain a mystery, but similarities with the Geely model are anticipated.

Premium Features

The Proton X70 lineup saw an update last July with the introduction of the 1.5 TGDi Premium X 2WD variant. Priced at RM126,800 OTR without insurance, this variant boasts a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine delivering 177 PS and 255 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Meanwhile, the top-tier 1.8 Premium variant houses a four-cylinder engine producing 184 PS and 300 Nm of torque.
