Hello PW folks,I am planning to buy an Army auctioned land cruiser RKR. i have done some research and i can find an unregistered LC RKR in 5-6 lakhs.
Need your reco/help on the belos to restore it.
What engine should i put? i was planning for 2L as it will be easy on fuel for daily commute as well.
should i purchase soft top or hard top ? I was thinking to buy a hard top.
where should i get the tyres, interior etc. what would be total cost to restore it completely ?
i have heard that they are troublefree cars if restored properly, is that true ?
how to check rhe engine before purchasing it for RKR ?
any other help/suggestions will be highly apppreciated.
Duaeen do gay mujhay kal ko is decision per apnay.
i completely agree with shoaib bhai. dont waste your money in it.
what i heard from my friend who also did the same restoration - it took million's approx. Stay safe.
i know someone who restored it in 3.5 lakh only.

Interesting... 3.5 lakh... Very interesting.
Let's hear the gent out. Even if he can explain the figure of 5 lacs (with proper parts listed by you above & not junk) I will immediately undertake this project myself.
Easily 10 lakhs budget on top plus registering is another task, to worth it in the long run get a manual Hilux instead
vote for toyota surf
Faisal. Surf ki problems ka pata hai...
Ha ha ha Sameer Bro you made my day. And if you scroll up I had said even if it costs 500k I will immediately undertake this project. The gent disappeared like horns from the head of a donkey. What a dig...
Brother please do let us know which vehucle and where it was restored. Waiting.
Guys, instead of restoring a rkr I bought a Hilux tiger 2003 Thai model with 3rz 2.7 engine.
Congrats... A wise decision of buying a Hilux instead of going for an RKR restoration.
Anyways, Toyota 3RZ hasn't been able to make its mark in other vehicles like Prado & Surf.
Please confirm how is it performing in Hiux?
It has been two weeks since I got this one. Have not tested it yet on a rough terrain as I want to make it reliable first. After running it for 200kms, I have observed that the pick and shoot is not great. The RPM of this pickup is always up between 1 and 2k. Also it is giving me only 3-4km/liter which is very disturbing. I got it checked from a mechanic who told me that it's clutch plates need a fix
Please check the fuel pump, spark plugs, and wiring, also.
Perform the clutch test yourself. Your mechanic's assessment might be right but it never hurts to be sure yourself.
