Back when diesel cars were in vogue in Pakistan, the Toyota Corolla 2.0D Saloon was a premium car to own. It offered class-leading features and offered a comfortable ride. It remained popular for years until Toyota decided to discontinue diesel engines in all Corolla variants. Diesel engines are generally noisy and more polluting than petrol engines. Moreover, diesel is more expensive than petrol; therefore, owning a diesel car is generally expensive than owning a petrol car in Pakistan. The car under review is a 2004 model 2.0D Saloon variant of Corolla. The person is the first owner of this car, and it has remained in his family since 2004.
Exterior
The most prominent feature of the exterior in this generation of Corolla is the round headlights and taillights. The generally round shape and smooth corners gave this model an appealing look and feel. The 2.0D Saloon came fitted with side skirts that distinguished this variant from simple 2.0D, Xli, and Gli variants. The side mirrors, door moldings, and door handles are body-colored. However, the car came without alloy rims and ABS safety features. The ground clearance is also optimal for this car for both urban and rural driving conditions.
Interior
The interior came fitted with power windows, power locks, power side mirrors, power steering, and driver airbag. The dashboard came with wooden accents that gave the interior a premium and an upmarket look. There is a central armrest for both the driver and the rear passengers. The interior is spacious and roomy for five people to sit comfortably. The seat cushion is also good, which makes traveling on longer journies comfortable. The two-tone colored dashboard also gives the interior a premium and classy look.
Engine and Performance
This particular car came with a 2000cc diesel engine, which is a powerful engine with a high torque figure. The suspension of this car is also smooth and can tackle bad road conditions easily, especially in rural areas. The road grip of the 2.0D Saloon is also superior to that of the petrol variants. The high torque and high fuel mileage make this car a viable option for long drives.
Maintenance and Mileage
According to the owner, the 2.0D Saloon is giving him around 18 km per liter in the city. On the highway, this car can easily return 24 km on one liter of diesel. Spare parts for this particular vehicle are readily available from the market. According to the owner, his car did not require much maintenance over the years. Oil change after 3,000 km costs the owner PKR 2,600, which also includes changing oil and air filters.
Verdict
According to the owner, he will still prefer to buy a diesel 2.0D Saloon over any petrol car in the price range. In the price bracket of PKR 11,00,000 to 12,00,000, 2004 model 2.0D Saloon is a viable and budget option to explore. It is a mid-size sedan with a practical boot to haul a considerable amount of cargo and interior space to seat five individuals comfortably.

I miss the old Toyota. Back then it really was durable and reliable and had a unique decency.
i am having this car and oil change is around 4500 including 5 litre Delo Gold oil and guard oil filter. 6500 is its yearly token tax. Although Sunil Manj said that its head lamps would be cheaper on Pakwheels shop but i found that it is more then 7000 Rs online.
I have the same maintenance routine, last oil change about a month ago cost 3300.
