Pak Suzuki Motor Company is gearing up to launch the automatic variant of its hot-selling hatchback Wagon R in the coming months.

According to our credible sources, the Japanese auto giant is adding one more variant to its Wagon R line up, and it would be an auto gear-shift (AGS) version of the 1000 cc hatchback. The auto manufacturer is currently offering two manual variants of Wagon R, i.e., VXR and VXL in the local market. VXR is the base variant of the hatchback whereas VXL is its top of the line version. The addition of AGS variant would give the customers the luxury of automatic driving in their most favorite hatchback. According to the details, it will be the same variant as VXL with the only change in the transmission of the car. All the features will remain the same.

Pak Suzuki’s other 1000 cc category car is Cultus which comes in three variants, i.e., VXR, VXL, and AGS. Initially, it also had only the manual versions, but the auto manufacturer added the AGS variant to the lineup last year. And so the same strategy has been adopted in the case of Wagon R now. Nonetheless, it’s good news for the consumers as they will have another choice in the entry-level segment of locally produced cars. Suzuki Wagon R has been the top-selling car of the company for the past few years. It has been majorly adopted for use in the ride-hailing business in Pakistan. Moreover, as the company announced to discontinue its iconic 800 cc Mehran, it also became the entry-level car for Pak Suzuki before the all-new 660cc Alto was launched.

The prominent features of Wagon R VXL are as follows:

  • Power Windows (front)
  • Power Steering
  • Infotainment system with USB and AUX connectivity
  • Body-colored side mirrors
  • Rear chrome garnish
  • Alloy wheels
  • Immobilizer
  • Keyless entry

The same features are expected in the AGS version of the hatchback. The company may add the power windows at the rear doors, but the price constraint might not allow them to provide that feature. The current (ex-factory) prices of VXR and VXL versions of Wagon R are mentioned below:

  • Suzuki Wagon R VXR (15.40 lacs)
  • Suzuki Wagon R VXL (16.25 lacs)

According to the sources, it’s expected to make its way to the market in the coming few months.

and price will be 20 lakh 😂 who is gonna buy it? A middle class person can’t afford or can’t spend such huge amount on this pathetic box car and they do not consider buying power of consumers and they just increase prices to make huge profits.
They seriously needs to think about raising quality and lowering prices to increase sales.

    You’re absolutely right.

What ever the features they added but price is sky high. As I think, it all due to Uber/Cream BUT now scenario is changed. Rather than to buy this Soap Box (Wagon R) people will prefer to buy Toyota Carolla 2013-14 model which having good capacity passengers and re-sale value as well

Society has limited resources and unlimited wants and needs. Because there is only so much to go around and everyone wants more than they have, what one gets, another does not. That means that virtually every good produced, every action taken has an opportunity cost.
