The all-new 10th Gen Honda Accord comes to the BIMS 2019

Honda has displayed its all-new 10th generation of Accord at the Bangkok International Motor Show 2019 which has been the highlight of the show so far.

The 40th edition of Bangkok International Motor Show began on 26th March 2019 and will continue till 4th April 2019. The auto giants from all over the world have jumped in, to avail the opportunity and showcase their upcoming or concept models at this year’s show in Bangkok. Honda, on the other hand, has a long list of as many as 12 cars showcased at the show but the centre of attention has been the all-new Honda Accord. The car was introduced in the Thai auto market just over a week ago. Pitak Pruittisarikorn, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Honda automobiles in Thailand was also present at the grand event. He is of the view that Honda Accord is one of the most important models of the company as it remains the pioneer in bringing new technologies in the automobile industry. He also believes that the premium sedan will definitely bring a lot of excitement to the Honda booth and this year’s show in Thailand.

Honda has introduced two variants of Accord in the Thai auto market i.e. Turbo and Hybrid. The turbo variant is powered with a 1.5L Di VTEC turbo engine that generates a maximum output power of 190 hp mated with a CVT transmission which offers an improved level of performance. This combination of Accord offers better mileage and performance than the previous 9th generation of the 2.4 L engine car. This particular turbo variant of Honda Accord is claimed to give an astonishing fuel consumption figures of 16.4 km/litre which is far better than the older version.

On the other side, the full hybrid variant of Honda Accord is equipped with a 2.0 L Atkinson Cycle, DOHC i-VTEC, 4-cylinders, 16-Valve engine integrated with a couple of electric motors, E-CVT and Lithium-Ion battery-pack that enables the car to be driven on battery mode. The hybrid version of Accord produces a maximum output power of 215 hp which is enormous. Moreover, it has an intelligent multi-mode drive system (i-MMD) which is an important feature in the car as it offers a smooth and intelligent switching between different driving modes. It’s also a smart system that is capable of responding to all sorts of driving conditions. This intelligent system makes the 10th generation of Honda Accord much more responsive but at the same time keeping the fuel efficiency to impressive figures of 24.4 km/litre.

The 10th gen Honda Accord is a masterpiece of safety features and the company has installed various advanced systems that make it a safe car on the road. It’s equipped with the Honda Sensing Safety which is a combination of several safety features. Some of them are mentioned below:

  • Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)

It’s a collision avoidance system installed by Honda that is designed specifically for the vehicles to reduce or completely prevent the severity of a collision on the road.

  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low-Speed Follow

Honda Accord has the Adaptive Cruise Control System with the help of which the driver can turn on the ACC mode, accelerate the car to the desired speed and then just press the ‘set’ button to cruise along the trip. However, stopping or slowing down the vehicle to avoid an obstacle remains the responsibility of the driver.

  • Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)

The lane keeping assist system ensures that the car remains in its lane and doesn’t create a hurdle for any other vehicle on the road by providing steering assistance.

  • Cross Traffic Monitor (CTM)

Honda has resolved the problem of its customers backing out of a parking spot by adding this cross traffic monitor system in its all-new Accord. It’s a wonderful safety feature that is integrated with the back view camera that lets the driver know if a vehicle is approaching near from any of the corners with the help of sensors installed at both corners of the car.

  • Multi-View Camera System (MVCS)

This feature enables the driver to switch between different angles of the camera enhancing the driver’s parking experience and avoiding any blind spot.

  • Honda Smart Parking Assist System (SPAS)

It’s one of the most exciting innovations in the automobile world. With the help of this system, the driver has to just mark the alignment of the car for parking and the system will do the rest. It’s has made parallel parking maneuvers much easier especially for those who hesitate to park in tight spaces.

  • Road Departure Mitigation System (RDMS)

The purpose of installing a road departure mitigation system in the car is to auto correct the course through steering or braking adjustment in case of change of lane.

  • Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS)

Honda has mounted a windshield camera in Accord which helps in identifying lane dividers or cat’s eye markers. In case of a lane change, it initiates an audible alert to warn the driver.

  • Auto High-Beam Support System (AHB)

This smart system automatically converts the low beam of the headlight to high mode on a clear road and shifts back to low beam when it detects a vehicle coming from the opposite direction.
